RACINE — A Racine woman was sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to amended charges Friday in connection to an alleged stabbing of her boyfriend in 2024.
According to an amended criminal complaint, 35-year-old Mia White was charged with one count of first degree reckless injury with use of a dangerous weapon, one count of resisting or obstructing an officer, one count of possession of cocaine/coca and one count of possession of narcotic drugs.
She entered a guilty plea to the reckless injury charge. The other three charges were dismissed but read into the court record.
White was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of extended supervision.
The original charges from October 2024 included one count of attempted first degree intentional homicide with domestic abuse assessments and use of a dangerous weapon, rather than the charge of first degree reckless injury with use of dangerous weapon.
White pleaded not guilty to the original charges.
Allegations
According to the original criminal complaint, officers with the Racine Police Department were sent to a residence in the 1300 block of LaSalle Street about 3:40 a.m. Oct. 2, 2024, and saw White walking and then running away.
She was apprehended in the 1000 block of Albert Street.
According to the complaint, officers saw what looked like blood on White’s hands and hoodie, and found 2.9 grams of a substance that reportedly tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl in her sock.
Police also reportedly found what appeared to be a bloodied knife behind a tree in the same area.
At the residence, officers found White’s boyfriend suffering from a stab wound under his left arm.
White reportedly told police that she and her boyfriend were arguing, and that she didn’t intend to hurt him but that he “came at†her.
According to the complaint, White said she had been struck, but could not recall where or how many times.
The complaint stated that an evaluation by medical personnel indicated White had suffered a fractured orbital bone.
