Ronald Hicks, 40, of Beloit, was charged with one felony count of possession with intent to deliver cocaine as a second and subsequent offense, one felony count of possession with intent to deliver an analog of fentanyl as a second and subsequent offense, one felony count of possession with intent to deliver THC as a second and subsequent offense and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia as a repeat offender.

A 糖心Vlog传媒 police officer who stopped a vehicle driven by Hicks, in which Barnes was a passenger, on Milton Avenue in 糖心Vlog传媒 around 2 a.m. on Feb. 12, noted that prior to making the stop 鈥渁 strong odor of marijuana was able to be smelled as if the vehicle was leaving a trail behind,鈥� and the officer noted that the vehicle was traveling erratically.

The officer further reported that once the vehicle was stopped and he approached the driver鈥檚 side door, 鈥渢he odor of marijuana was extremely strong鈥� and it 鈥渁ppeared as if perfume or cologne was sprayed in the vehicle in an attempt to mask the smell.鈥� The officer also noted that 鈥渢he odor coming from the vehicle appeared to be fresh as if the vehicle was just smoked in.鈥�

Subsequent searches of Barnes and Hicks and of the vehicle found marijuana, more than $3,600 in cash, pills that tested positive for cocaine, crack cocaine and a digital scale,

Hicks told an officer that the the bundles of cash found in his pockets, totaling $3,680, were from his tax return and 鈥渘ot a lot.鈥�
