TOWN OF TURTLE — The Rock County Sheriff’s Office says a Beloit woman is under arrest on suspicion of homicide in the death of a 14 year old found dead Friday in the town of Turtle.
Tyiece L. Oninski, 41, Beloit, has been arrested on tentative charges of first-degree intentional homicide after police say they found the teen dead in a home at the 2000 block of East Gorton Street in the town of Turtle.
Police said they conducted a welfare check shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday, March 20, and found the teen dead in the residence. Town of Turtle police were involved in the response.
The sheriff’s office has not explained the circumstances of the death nor said when police arrested Oninski on suspicion of homicide. A sheriff’s detective in charge of the case did not return phone calls Monday from ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½.
Rock County District Attorney Jason Sanders said Oninski has not been formally charged because she’s in the hospital with severe injuries.
“The person arrested is in the hospital and probably will be the majority of this week,†Sanders said.
Sanders said authorities found Oninski injured at the residence and later developed her as a suspect. He said he expects the sheriff’s office will refer formal charges to the D.A., but it might not be until the end of the week before Oninski is medically cleared.
Sanders says Oninski might not appear in court until early next week.
In a letter to students, obtained by ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½, a Beloit School District official named the 14-year-old killed as a freshman student at the high school, and said that a local go-fund-me that has been running for two days has raised over $4,000 for what organizers say are pending funeral costs.
ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ is not naming the teen at this time.
The sheriff’s office says it’s not immediately releasing further information.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is investigating alongside the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.
