MILTON — The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Rock County is offering a “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” workshop at KANDU Industries, 15 Plumb St., Milton.
The program helps people with chronic diseases self-manage living with such conditions as arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, anxiety or other ongoing health problems that can be physically, emotionally and financially draining.
This workshop aims to connect participants with the necessary tools and knowledge needed to find solutions. Research has shown that the program improves participants’ physical and emotional outcomes, as well as their health-related quality of life.
In six weekly sessions, “Living Well with Chronic Conditions” gives participants strategies to manage chronic disease. These include techniques for coping with fatigue, pain and isolation; communicating with family, friends and health professionals; practicing good nutrition; evaluating new treatment options; and goal-setting and problem-solving.
The workshops are held on Wednesday mornings from July 10 to Aug. 21 from 9-11:15 a.m. with no class on Wednesday, July 24.
The workshop is best suited for those age 60 and older. A suggested donation of $15 for the series includes a resource book and class materials.
For questions or to register for the program by Monday, July 8, contact the ADRC of Rock County by calling 608-757-5309 or emailing lisa.messer@co.rock.wi.us.
