DELAVAN — The Aram Public Library is hosting a series of events this fall, starting with the 5K Fun Run and Walk on September 14 and a special historical portrayal of Lucille Ball on October 4.
The Delavan Aram Public Library Foundation will host its second annual 5K Fun Run and Walk as part of Scarecrow Fest on Saturday, Sept. 14. The event will start at the library, 404 E. Walworth Ave., at 8 a.m., with registration opening at 7 a.m.
Participants can choose to walk or run a 5K course through Delavan’s green spaces. Individual tickets are $40 for adults and $15 for youth ages 12 and under, with well-behaved dogs on leashes welcome for $5 each (t-shirts are not included for dogs). For those who prefer to sleep in, a $50 “sleep-in†ticket is available, which includes a T-shirt to be picked up at the library. All participants will receive a t-shirt and race bib.
Online registration is open now to September 9 at 12 p.m.
Proceeds will support the Aram Public Library expansion project.
Celebrate Scarecrow Fest at the library on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the library’s front lawn. Visitors can enjoy a petting zoo presented by Gee Funny Farm and meet members of the 501st Legion, a global Star Wars costuming organization. The event will also feature a special raffle organized by the Delavan Aram Public Library Foundation, offering a chance to win a Lego R2D2 set valued at $240. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 (cash only).
Gather at the library on Friday, Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. for a portrayal of Lucille Ball by historian and actress Leslie Goddard. Experience the magic of the iconic comedian and actor known for her comedic genius and fearless spirit in the 1950s. Goddard will explore the contrast between Ball’s on-screen persona and her real-life achievements.
Admission is free and no registration is necessary, but seating is limited. Arrive early to ensure a spot.
