Saturday marked World Press Freedom Day, a timely reminder that under the Constitution, the First Amendment protects freedom of speech. But that freedom is increasingly threatened by executive overreach—especially under the guise of “emergency†powers.

We've already seen such powers misused to detain and deport individuals to foreign gulags—funded by U.S. taxpayers—without due process, under the misapplication of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.
