The Louvre's Apollo gallery is reopening to the public for the first time since last year's crown jewels heist. The museum has removed the collections and precious jewels, returning the gallery to its original ceremonial purpose. On the day of the heist, thieves took less than eight minutes to steal the 88 million euro trove. Marine Le Pen might have to wear an electronic monitor during her campaign to succeed French president Emmanuel Macron in elections next year. A Paris appeals court on Tuesday declared the far-right leader guilty of embezzlement and fined her 100,000 euros. The court also reduced her ban on elected office and her prison sentence, with one year to be served under house arrest with an electronic monitor. Le Pen said she’ll run for the presidency despite being sentenced and added that she now believes she won’t be subjected to monitoring at all.

Philippine police have arrested a senator for alleged plunder, becoming the latest member of the upper chamber to be taken into custody in more than a month over suspicion of large-scale corruption. Sen. Rodante Marcoleta, who denies committing any wrongdoing, was taken into police custody Monday at a special anti-graft court where he went with his lawyers to question the charges against him and seek a delay in the enforcement of his arrest.

The U.S. Treasury has announced sanctions and a new bank alert targeting the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Mexico’s most powerful criminal group. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on two Mexican men and nine entities linked to a cartel fuel theft ring. This ring evades Mexican taxes and generates millions annually. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network issued an alert to financial institutions about fuel smuggling red flags. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency acknowledges the cartel’s presence in 21 of Mexico’s 32 states. Mexican authorities have seized millions of gallons of stolen fuel in recent years.
