RIPON — The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater baseball team capped off the 2026 regular season with an 11-1 run-rule victory over Ripon College.
Aaron Holland got the scoring started right away with a lead-off home run to put the Warhawks on the board. UW-Whitewater was able to get a crooked number on, stealing third base before an errant throw brought him home.
Ripon scored a run in the bottom of the first, hitting their own lead-off homer. That would be the only run from the Warhawks allowed. Ethan Wickman pitched the first 5 innings, allowing two hits.
Leyten Bowers added an RBI single in the third, and the Warhawks held the 3-1 lead despite going down in order the next innings. The offense got going again, loading up the bases at the top of the 6th. Jackson Koenig drew the walk to bring in a runner and put the Warhawks up by three runs.
The Warhawks cracked the game open in the 7th, scoring three runs to extend the lead. Leyten Bowers highlighted the inning with a triple over the centerfielder’s head.
In the 8th inning, UW-Whitewater put the game into double digits. Andy Thies and Bowers both had RBI singles, with Jackson Spring hitting the 2-RBI double to bring the Warhawks to a 10-run lead.
Theo Ziedler pitched the final 3.0 innings, not allowing a single hit and issuing only one walk in the save.
The Warhawks return to Prucha Field on Thursday, May 7, to host the WIAC Tournament. The Warhawks face UW-River Falls at 12 p.m. to open up the double-elimination bracket
