JANESVILLE 鈥 Americorps is seeking 16 tutors in Rock County for its Reading Corps and Math Corps programs to serve at local schools to help more students succeed. The hope is additional support will lead to faster progress and greater grains.
Tutors receive free training and ongoing coaching. No teaching experience is required. Candidates may choose to tutor full-time, or 35 hours per week. Another option is part-time, or 25 hours per week. All tutors are paid a stipend every two weeks for about $16 per hour served. They also qualify for up to an additional $3,697 that can be used for college tuition or student loans.
Tutors 55 or older may choose to give those funds to their child, grandchild, step child or foster child. Thsoe tutoring full-time also qualify for free individual health insurance.

During the 2025-26 school year, tutors served 6,800 students across Wisconsin. Americorps aims for at least 8,000 students supported this year.
