JANESVILLE 鈥 Rock County is inviting community stakeholders to a meeting Sept. 17 at the Daniel Hale Williams Resource Center to discuss transitioning from response to recovery to help those impacted by severe weather earlier this year
The 6 p.m. meeting was announced in an email to community stakeholders Friday by Becky Huber, the coordinator of prevention and community engagement at the county鈥檚 human services department.
鈥淵our participation and input are very important; we encourage anyone with community knowledge and/or resources (money, material, or volunteers) to attend,鈥 Huber wrote.
A long-term recovery committee will be formed. Its core functions will include developing a plan for volunteer coordination, assisting with crisis counseling and spiritual care, community assessment and case management, coordinating construction, public relations and fundraising.
鈥淭here are many ways to organize a long-term recovery effort, but the goal is always the same: To unite recovery resources with community needs to ensure that even the most vulnerable in the community recover from disasters,鈥 Huber wrote.
Participants on the committee will fill out an interest form and a confidentiality agreement to protect survivor information.
