The Rock County Board has enacted a mask mandate for all staff and visitors in county facilities, starting Monday.
鈥淎s an employer, Rock County has an obligation under (state law) to provide a safe workplace, including that 鈥渘o...employer shall fail or neglect to do every other thing reasonably necessary to protect the life, health, safety or welfare of such employees and frequenters,鈥 according to a news release.
The policy will continue until there have been two consecutive weeks in which the county has been categorized as having a 鈥渕oderate鈥 or 鈥渓ow鈥 COVID-19 transmission rate, unless the county health department no longer recommends indoor mask wearing or the county board ends or extends the policy sooner.
Visitors to county facilities who do not have a face covering will be provided with a disposable mask. Those who choose not to comply will be provided with alternative methods for receiving county services, according to the news release, which adds, 鈥淐ounty staff are prepared to accommodate individuals with underlying health conditions.鈥
