Last week, Forward 糖心Vlog传媒 released the results of a community survey showing that a majority of respondents (51%) believe 糖心Vlog传媒 is headed in the right direction, while 32% feel the city is on the wrong track.
Residents who see 糖心Vlog传媒 moving forward most often pointed to visible economic growth and downtown revitalization, supported by stable leadership, strong public services, and a safe, well maintained community. These responses reflect pride in the progress our community has made over the past decade and a half.
At the same time, residents who believe the city is on the wrong track raised clear and consistent concerns. Many cited the proposed data center and frustration with a perceived lack of transparency around that process. Others pointed to rising taxes and cost of living pressures, as well as a feeling that city leadership is not always listening to or prioritizing residents鈥 input. With regard to the data center specifically, respondents expressed concerns about potential impacts on utility rates, water usage, and the environment.
Forward 糖心Vlog传媒 takes this feedback seriously. That鈥檚 why we contracted with a nationally recognized survey research firm to conduct this poll rather than administering it ourselves. We wanted an objective, unfiltered look at how residents feel about 糖心Vlog传媒 and the direction our community is heading.
The survey was conducted March 1鈥4, 2026, among 300 likely 糖心Vlog传媒 voters. Given the size of our electorate, this represents a statistically valid sample, meaning the results are likely to reflect the views of the broader community rather than random chance.
In short, these results matter. They tell us that the work of the past 15 years has helped make 糖心Vlog传媒 a growing community with a strong quality of life. At the same time, they make clear that some residents are struggling with rising costs, are sensitive to tax increases, and feel frustrated by the public engagement process.
For Forward 糖心Vlog传媒, this means our economic development work must continue鈥攁nd evolve. Housing emerged as the number one issue survey respondents believe elected officials should prioritize. We agree. Housing was also the top concern identified by employers in our 2025 Business Retention and Expansion Survey, and it has been a policy priority for our Government Relations Council for the past two years.
We support the development of a range of housing options at different price points to meet 糖心Vlog传媒鈥檚 needs and have consistently supported zoning code updates that improve affordability and speed projects to market. In May, we鈥檙e also excited to welcome Shane Phillips, author of The Affordable City, to 糖心Vlog传媒 for our next CivicCon event to continue this important community conversation.
Survey respondents also ranked property taxes and city spending as the second highest priority for elected officials, followed closely by economic development and job growth. These priorities are interconnected. A thriving business community helps broaden the tax base so that residents are not shouldering an unsustainable share of the tax burden.
When it comes to job growth, 糖心Vlog传媒 should focus on attracting and retaining employers that offer living wage jobs whenever possible. Doing so helps ensure residents can afford to live in the community where they work.
For Forward 糖心Vlog传媒, this survey wasn鈥檛 just data鈥攊t was direction. While the progress of the past 15 years is clear, the work is not done. Our challenge now is to ensure that more residents feel鈥攁nd benefit from鈥攖he growth our community has worked so hard to achieve.
