A senior official with the Iran-backed Houthi rebels is warning countries against joining Saudi Arabia in Yemen’s revived civil war. In an Associated Press interview Sunday, he also said the Houthis told the Trump administration that they won’t attack U.S. vessels in the Red Sea. Mohamed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Houthis’ political bureau, says the U.S. contacted the rebels via Oman to inquire about their intentions. He said the Houthis are not targeting the U.S. or other nations, only neighboring Saudi Arabia, which has backed Yemen's internationally recognized government. The Houthis are claiming they can fight a war on multiple fronts.
