WHITEWATER 鈥 The UW-Whitewater women鈥檚 soccer team returned to the win column on Thursday with a 3-0 victory over North Park University at Robert Fiskum Field.
The Warhawks (5-2-0) rebounded from a ranked loss to North Central earlier in the week by collecting not only the team鈥檚 fifth win, but also their fifth shutout of the year against the Vikings (2-4-1).
It didn鈥檛 take long for UWW to find the back of the net in the contest, as 糖心Vlog传媒 Craig alum Lilli Rick scored her third goal of the season in the seventh minute with assists coming from Rowan Severson and Rachel Cvikel.
Cvikel then followed up her assist by scoring her first goal of the season six minutes later, putting the Warhawks ahead 2-0.
The third and final goal of the game wouldn鈥檛 come until the 84th minute with Leah Dehne sneaking one past the NPU keeper to give the Warhawks a 3-0 victory. Dehne鈥檚 goal was assisted by Jenna Laidlaw.
Junior goalkeeper Kara Smith earned the win in net for UW-Whitewater. The Joliet, Illinois, native logged four total saves in what ended up being her second consecutive shutout win of the season.
The Warhawks finished the night having out-shot the Vikings 30-6.
UWW remains at home for their next match, which takes place Monday, September 21 at Robert Fiskum Field. The Warhawks will welcome Carroll University (1-2-4) for a 4:30 p.m. match.
