WHITEWATER 鈥 The No. 16 ranked UW-Whitewater volleyball team was supposed to open its 2026 season on Tuesday, September 1, with a home match against Concordia University (Wisconsin).

However, the two teams were only able to complete just shy of two sets worth of action before match officials suspended the match due to unsafe playing conditions.

Due to high humidity levels within UWW鈥檚 Russell Arena, the playing surface became too slippery and potentially dangerous for the teams. This led to officials and coaches meeting and ultimately deciding to suspend the match.

The Warhawks opened the match with a 25-19 win in set one. Whitewater was leading the second set 22-13 before officials stepped in.

There is currently no information on when the match will be rescheduled and resumed, if it will be at all. Further updates will be provided by UW-Whitewater on the website.
