MADISON 鈥 The Milton boys and girls cross country teams took their talents to the Monona Golf Course on Saturday for the 2026 Glenn McNaughton Invitational.
The Red Hawks came home with a grand total of 18 PR times by Milton runners, culminating in the Milton boys team earning a fifth place finish and the girls team earning a ninth place finish on the overall team leaderboard.
Oliver Badtke starred for the Red Hawks, as the junior grabbed the top finish of the day for Milton in the boys 5000 meter varsity race. Badtke earned 15th after running a 17:20.10.
Three other Red Hawks earned spots in the top 30 for the Milton boys team, as Matthew Noble (24th), Joshua Grossen (26th) and Conner Adams (30th) made up the group. The trio also finished within 10 seconds of one another, recording times of 17:44.40, 17:46.10 and 17:53.90, respectively.
The Milton girls were once again paced by freshman Elle Suehring, who clocked in with a 22:10.50 to finish 30th in the girls varsity race. Suehring marked the fifth-fastest freshman of the varsity field.
Suehring was followed closely by her teammate, Claudia Astin, who nabbed a 34th-place finish with her time of 22:15.30.
At the JV level, freshman Owen Keiser was the primary standout for Milton as he ran his way to a 16th-place finish with a time of 19:29.10. Keiser also marked the fifth-fastest freshman to compete in the JV race.
Next up for the Red Hawks will be the Mount Horeb Invitational, set to take place Saturday, September 19 at Norsk Golf Club.
