JANESVILLE– KANDU Industries announced Tuesday that it has begun its 2023 annual giving campaign.
According to the news release, KANDU appeals to the community every year for financial support to help close the gap between government funding and the expenses required to operate and expand the organization’s many important programs.
“2023 marks one of the most important years for our annual giving campaign as we expand our day services/memory care program to serve an aging population that is expected to double in the next decade,†Kathy Hansen, KANDU’s executive director said in a release. “Disability will have a new meaning for many families as they take on the added responsibility of caring for a loved one who can no longer be left alone during the day due to dementia and other age-related issues. Just as important, families will need respite to manage all the other responsibilities of their busy lives, including taking care of their own mental health during what can be a very stressful time.â€
Reports estimate that by 2040, Rock County’s population of individuals ages 85 and older is expected to increase by 120% and the number of Rock County residents with dementia is expected to increase by 110%. KANDU is the only state-certified adult day services program in Rock County and currently serves only 56 of 398 people with dementia in the community, according to the release.
The funds raised during the annual giving campaign also offset expenses for the many other vital programs KANDU offers for people with disabilities, including job training and employment, daily living skills for people of all ages, and residential services.
