Butterfly Club turns 100 years old

The staff of the Butterfly Club restaurant pose for a photograph. The popular Beloit area restaurant will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

TOWN of TURTLE — Inspired by yellow and white butterflies fluttering in a nearby field, the namesake for the restaurant at 5246 E. County Road X was created.

Welcome to the summer of 1924 when Hal and Mae Sherburne purchased five acres in the Town of Turtle and hired a Clinton carpenter to build the Butterfly Tea Room.
