A community conversation is also ahead for Parker YMCA in Milton, about the future of its facility and programs.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony including representatives of the Milton Area Chamber of Commerce, Forward ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½, and the city of Milton is scheduled for Friday, June 13, at 12 p.m. at the Parker YMCA facility.
“The gift will expand outdoor opportunities for YMCA members and non-members in the broader Milton community,†a release said. It comes as the YMCA launches its 135 & Beyond campaign as it approaches the 135th anniversary of the YMCA’s local founding in ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ in 1890.
“We couldn’t be more grateful to the city of Milton for granting us this beautiful green space,†YMCA of Northern Rock County President and CEO Angie Bolson said in the release.
“With membership and childcare growing rapidly at our Parker Y, this land lets us expand outdoor time and classes, team up with local sports groups for practices and games, and host everything from community events to family picnics.â€
“We’re excited to partner with the YMCA of Northern Rock County to make this outdoor space more accessible and meaningful,†Milton City Administrator said in the release. “This collaboration allows us to enhance our community’s green spaces while supporting the well-being of our residents, families, and neighbors.â€
Parker YMCA opened in Milton in 2013. It offers athletic fields, exercise spaces and equipment and wellness programming, serving about 2,000 members annually. It also provides childcare for more than 270 local families, “making it Milton’s most-used before and after school and local summer camp provider,†the release said. And it offers youth recreational sports leagues ranging from flag football and volleyball to personal training and nutrition coaching.
The donated land is designated for organized recreational use for YMCA members and the community.
“To ensure this space reflects community interests and remains well managed, the YMCA of Northern Rock County is open to new collaborations to help establish programming schedules, set usage guidelines, and coordinate field maintenance,†the release said.
“We’re eager to continue discussions with the Y about bringing our league to this space,†Rick Terrill, president of Milton Youth Football, said in the release. “Having a dedicated area like this in town would be incredibly useful for our families and young athletes. It’s where our players can learn teamwork, stay active, and build friendships. We look forward to seeing how this partnership can benefit our community.â€
“We look forward to welcoming all kinds of uses that help Milton thrive through bringing more people outdoors, building connections, and promoting healthy living,†Bolson said.
