Prior to the crash occurring, around 2:40 a.m., an officer observed the vehicle drive through a blinking red traffic light at North Parker Drive and Centerway Street. The officer turned around to stop the vehicle for failing to stop at a traffic control signal. Upon doing so, the vehicle was nowhere to be found.

Police said that a different officer on an unrelated traffic stop at the intersection of Milton Ave and Refset observed the vehicle pass him at what he estimated was 100 miles an hour.

No other vehicles were involved. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
