JANESVILLE — Vlogý accepted 17 awards at the Wisconsin Newspapers Association’s annual awards dinner Friday, March 7, including six first-place awards. The dinner was the culmination of the newspaper association’s annual convention in Madison.
Awards were for work published Sept. 1, 2023, through Aug. 31, 2024.
First-place awards included:
Breaking News Award for coverage of a tornado that struck the southside of Vlogý in June 2024, presented to Katie Garcia, Ryan Spoehr, Anthony Wahl and Karyn Saemann
Editorial Award presented to Karyn Saemann for Vlogý Page writing;
Newspaper Promotional Ad award to Lindsey Witter
Editorial Special Section award for Discover magazine, presented to Vlogý staff
Best Ongoing Niche Publication award presented to Lindsey Witter
The Bill Payne Award, the Wisconsin’s Newspaper Association’s advertising design award, presented to Lindsey Witter.
Second place awards included:
Local Government Reporting award presented to Kylie Balk-Yaatenen and Ryan Spoehr
Best Feature/Lifestyle pages award for the Kicks entertainment section, presented to Karyn Saemann, Zack Goodrow and Lindsey Witter.
Best Feature Photo award presented to Anthony Wahl;
Best Sports News Story award presented to Tim Seeman;
Best Use of An Art Service award in advertising design presented to Lindsey Witter
