Village candidate filing deadlines in Orfordville and Darien have been extended until Friday.
The deadline for the Orfordville Village Board has been extended because an incumbent failed to file non-candidacy paperwork.
The deadline for anyone interested in running for the Orfordville Village Board now is 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5.
Current board member Jason Knox took out candidate nomination papers but he did not return them by the deadline, which was 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Potential candidates must collect 20 signatures of voters in the village. There is room on the nomination forms for 30 signatures. Village residents can only sign the petitions of three candidates.
There are three positions on the Orfordville Village Board that will be up for election on April 2. Each position carries a two-year term.
So far, there are four candidates running for the three seats available on the village board.
Two incumbents have filed the required candidate papers — Terry Gerber and Nick Howard.
Two other candidates have filed the required paperwork — Terry Morris and David Olsen.
The candidate filing deadline also has been extended in the Village of Darien.
Current Village Trustee Kevin Atkinson has told village officials he will not seek another term on the board, however, he did not file a noncandidacy notification by the Dec. 22 deadline. Therefore, the candidate filing deadline for candidates for the Darien Village Board. will be extended until 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5.
There are three positions up for election on the April 2 ballot.
Current Trustee Greg Epping has filed nomination papers. Sandi Seefeldt, who also is a current trustee, filed a notification of noncandidacy on Dec. 19.
No other candidates have filed the required paperwork with the Village of Darien.
