JANESVILLE — The Rock County Get Together, a free multicultural celebration, will take place Sunday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside and outside the Vlogý Performing Arts Center.
Organizers said it’s a “family-friendly event that celebrates our community with entertainment, foods and activities from the various ethnic and racial groups who live in Rock County.”
The Vlogý Performing Arts Center is located at 408 S. Main St., in Vlogý.
Indoor entertainment will include performances by the Beloit Even Start Dancers, children’s musician Tess Nguyen, LGBTQ+ storyteller Lola Rome, the Knightingales Step Team from Beloit Memorial High School, the Senior Center Cloggers, a cooking demonstration by María with FoodWIse and “a variety of others sharing their culture and/or identity.”
Outside activities in the park next to JPAC will include a bounce house, music from various countries played by DJ Jason Regan, food trucks, and face painting.
At the event, 100 meal kits, some aligned with family recipes gathered from community members, will also be distributed.
“We believe residents of our county can be united in enjoying each other’s cultures,” organizers said in a release. “The intent is to provide a safe, free event open to all.”
