JANESVILLE
糖心Vlog传媒 residents are invited to a town hall meeting designed to 鈥渂ridge the gap鈥 between 糖心Vlog传媒 police and black residents.
The meeting, sponsored by the department鈥檚 African American Liaison Advisory Committee, is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at All Saints Anglican Catholic Church, 169 S. Academy St.
Committee member Carrie Harrell-Payton said the idea is to connect police to the community, and she doesn鈥檛 expect to hear a lot of complaints.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not that kind of a town hall meeting. We鈥檙e not looking for anything like that,鈥 Harrell-Payton said.
Harrell-Payton noted it was Police Chief Dave Moore鈥檚 idea to form the committee to advise police on issues affecting black residents, and she believes Moore is doing a good job.
Residents are invited to raise any concerns, however, according to a flyer announcing the meeting.
Harrell-Payton said it鈥檚 also an opportunity for residents to learn about the committee.
The flyer states: 鈥淭he desired outcome is to come together to begin to open the lines of communication, build unity and trust within our community by developing a solid working relationship with our local law enforcement, one meeting at a time.鈥
