The out-of-town newspaper editorial reprinted on Tuesday’s Vlogý page gets the inflation story backwards. Inflation is chilling not increasing. The other newspaper emphasized a blip caused by technical factors (month to month swings in 2022’s inflation). It is easy to cherry-pick numbers to fit a political argument, for example, the same report showed gas prices are down 20% year-over-year.

More objectively, inflation in July was 0.2% month over month – exactly the same as inflation in June, also 0.2%. That is a stable 2.4% annual rate. Check it out on .
