I realize that Marshall Apartments/JPAC on South Main Street is an incredible building, and that people are drawn to its outward beauty. I'm fortunate to be a resident of this building along with fifty plus other families.
While I love living at Marshall Apartments, I wish people who come to visit our building, either to take outdoor pictures or to see a JPAC show, would have more consideration and respect to those of us who live here.
The parking lot off of Kerwin Mathews Court is designated parking for residents, yet people will park there to see a JPAC show. Should I need to leave during a show, I may not have anywhere to park when I come back to my own home. That's equivalent to a bunch of strangers blocking you out of your own driveway to attend the party next door.
Around 7:30am this morning, we were woken by dozens of people gathered in front of the building, directly in front of our apartment windows, to take group photos. The windows to the building are old with very little sound proofing, and these people were not being quiet at all.
Similar situations such as this occur regularly throughout the summertime and into fall for things like senior photos and wedding parties. I want everyone to understand that every single window on the exterior of this building looks into someone's personal residence.
When you are pointing a camera at this awesome building, you are pointing a camera into the windows of private residences. I think anyone would consider it to be an invasion of privacy if someone were to walk up to the bay window of some random home's living room and take pictures directly towards it. Using Marshall Apartment Building as your photo background is no different.
I don't blame anyone for wanting to photograph this building because it's so pretty! I also encourage everyone to support JPAC. Come see their shows because they're really fun to watch! However, please have some consideration for the residents of the building and respect their boundaries.
