WHITEWATER -- The way Logan Eisenbarth pitched, his UW-Whitewater baseball teammates did not have to provide many runs in the third and deciding NCAA Division III Super Regional series game Saturday.
Eisenbarth improved to 8-0 on the season after allowing just three hits and no runs over his seven innings. Eisenbarth had only four previous starts this season, but came through in the team鈥檚 biggest game of the year.
The junior righthander鈥檚 pitching along with four homers and three doubles led to a 10-0 victory in the third and deciding game Saturday afternoon at Prucha Field at James Miller Stadium.
The victory came after a 5-2 second game loss earlier Saturday that forced the deciding game. The victory sends the Warhawks to their second straight trip to the NCAA Division III World Series in Eastlake, Ohio.
The Warhawks, who finished as the national runner-up last year, will take a 44-6 record to the World Series, which begins Friday.
Just as they did in the 14-1 opening series game Friday afternoon, the Warhawks used great starting pitching and scored in more innings than not.
What were popups and fly outs off UW-Whitewater bats in the first NCAA Division III Super Regional game Saturday turned into four homers and three doubles in the deciding game.
Second baseman Andy Thies hit two of the homers. He has 14 on the season. Thies also scored four times and had three RBI.
First baseman Eli Frank also had three RBI and three hits, including a homer and a double.
The NCAA will announce the World Series brackets later this weekend.
