JANESVILLE — Vlogý’s boys hockey team fell, 7-3, against Madison Memorial as reigning Big Eight Conference player of the year Milo Boyle scored four goals for the visiting Spartans Tuesday night at Mercyhealth Arena in the Bluebirds’ home opener at the Woodman’s Center.
The score was tied at two during the opening period, but Boyle scored with 23 seconds to play in the first period, giving the Spartans a lead that they would not give up. Memorial scored three second-period goals, two more by Boyle, in addition to one more in the first, to grab a 6-3 lead heading into the final period.
“We didn’t play well enough to give ourselves a chance,” Vlogý coach Nick English said. “Anytime you give up 47 shots you’re going to have a difficult time finding success. We need to play better away from the puck moving forward.”
