EDGERTON — Against Lake Mills on Friday, Edgerton’s girls basketball team was all gas and no brakes. Five-foot-7 freshman guard Reese Zellmer provided a game-high 15 points as the Crimson Tide raced past the L-Cats, winning 65-20.
Helping Zellmer with the scoring load was Gracee Langer’s 13 points and Claudia Jenny’s 9. After one half of action, Edgerton led 36-10.
Edgerton’s play within the post and their ball-pressure on Lake Mills’ guards helped secure the win.
“I thought we were just more physical than them inside and our guards pressured their guards and made them very uncomfortable for most of the night,†said Edgerton coach Chris Jenny.
After losing against Brookfield East, 62-52, on Dec. 31, Edgerton’s win against Lake Mills continues its streak of not losing back-to-back games. The last time the Crimson Tide suffered two losses in a row came during the 2019-20 season when Edgerton lost against Whitewater, then East Troy .
“I thought it was a nice bounce-back. We’ve got a group that’s really proud of the fact that in the five years that I’ve been coaching this team, we’ve never lost two games in a row and they take pride in that,†Jenny said.
Edgerton (9-1, 5-0 Rock Valley Rock Conference) will play its next game on the road against Monroe, Tuesday, Jan. 7 with tipoff set for 7 p.m.
