After they split the regular-season series and the Badger Large Conference championship, it seemed only appropriate that Milton and Beaver Dam would split the postseason awards.
Milton senior Gwen Baker was named the league’s pitcher of the year for 2024, while Beaver Dam senior Gabby Fakes earned player of the year honors.
The teams’ coaches, Kurt Mussey of Milton and Abby Schmitt of Beaver Dam, were co-coaches of the year, as well.
Baker and Fakes both were unanimous first-team all-conference selections, as was Watertown senior Drew Hinrichs.
Two more Red Hawks earned first-team accolades, hard-hitting sophomore catcher Kenzie Marquardt and versatile junior Kylie Reed. Milton had two players make the Badger Large second team, as well: junior Ella Knoble and sophomore Jenna Benash.
Molly Baker and Lynden Briggs received honorable mention picks to round out the Red Hawks’ awards haul.
