MILTON — The Red Hawks may have trailed 5-1 after three innings to Monona Grove in a Badger Large Conference softball game Friday afternoon, but that didn’t stop Milton from grabbing a 6-5 victory at Schilberg park.
In the bottom of the fourth, Julia Wolf singled to start the inning. Jenna Benash then singled, sending Wolf to third base. Molly Baker brough Wolf home on a single to make the score 5-2.
Trinity Harris reached base on a ground ball to score Benash, and Baker later scored off a Kylie Reed single bringing the Red Hawks to a 5-4 deficit.
Milton tied the game one inning later. Wolf initially got on base and scored off an error after a Benash hit.
The Red Hawks took the lead for good when Wolf hit a triple in the sixth inning to score Elise Wieters.
“It was a good game to fight back and get a win out of it,†said Milton coach Kurt Mussey.
Wolf and Benash each went 3-for-4 at the plate.
“Julia Wolf is continuing to be a huge spark for us,†Mussey said.
Trinity Harris started the game for the Red Hawks and gave up five runs, three of which were earned. Ella Knoble came in and pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings and only allowed one hit.
“Ella came in and did a really good job,†Mussey said.
Milton (9-5, 4-3 Badger Large) returns to action Tuesday, where it hosts Oregon at 5 p.m.
