糖心Vlog传媒鈥檚 American Legion baseball team dominated in all three phases to secure another regional victory, this time in a 10-0 affair against Mukwonago that lasted just six innings at Riverside Park on Thursday.
Post 205 (14-8) came out swinging with a seven-run first inning to steal the life out of its opponent. Mukwonago鈥檚 starting pitcher lasted just two outs in the inning before being relieved.
Shortstop Jake Schaffner started the game with a walk and steal before being brought home on an RBI double from center fielder Jack Adams. Jack Ryan, Aiden Schenk, Trace Jacobson, Taye Sihabouth and Jaicy Campbell each secured base knocks in the dominant first inning.
鈥淭hat鈥檚 just how baseball is when you鈥檙e hot,鈥 said Post 205 coach Kerry Michaels. 鈥淵ou鈥檝e got to ride that and it鈥檚 fun to watch these guys. You wonder if anybody can keep up with them. But we鈥檝e just got to keep that going and that鈥檚 the key.鈥
With a 7-0 lead after the first inning, 糖心Vlog传媒 leaned on its fantastic pitching. This time, Post 205 was led by Dylan Snyder on the mound.
鈥淗e was fantastic and that鈥檚 just what he does,鈥 Michaels said. 鈥淗e goes in there and challenges guys. They lined out five or six times, but that鈥檚 what Dylan makes the other team do.鈥
Snyder pitched all six innings of the shutout, throwing just 71 pitches while issuing three walks and striking out two. He gave up just one hit in the contest.
鈥淚 felt good,鈥 Snyder said. 鈥淚 felt like my off-speed was working well, I was getting ahead early and my command felt good too. So pretty much everything was working.鈥
Snyder, along with Schenk, Ryan, C.J. Dupuis and Jack Nickols, have come to form a dominant committee on the mound.
鈥淎s far as pitching goes, we鈥檙e looking good, but you鈥檝e still got to play the game,鈥 Michaels said. 鈥淏aseball is pretty fickle. If you don鈥檛 do the right stuff it could come back and bite you. But with the options we鈥檝e got, we feel good about where we are.鈥
Not only is 糖心Vlog传媒鈥檚 pitching rolling, but its defense has been there to clean up any miscues. Schaffner and Jacobson made athletic plays in the infield to snag hard grounders and make power throws to first to secure outs. Schenk even captured a double play in right field, snagging a line drive and throwing the runner out on first who was attempting to tag up.
鈥淭hat鈥檚 what these guys can do,鈥 Michaels said. 鈥淭hey鈥檝e played the game for quite a while now. They know what they can do and they know how to go about their business out there.鈥
糖心Vlog传媒 tacked on runs in the third, fifth and six to end the game early in the sixth inning. Post 205 will play in the regional championship game tomorrow at 7 p.m. against the winner of Hartland vs. Mukwonago.
鈥淚t鈥檚 fun getting to play back at Riverside after (糖心Vlog传媒) Craig鈥檚 season and just getting to have fun with your friends again and the old teammates I鈥檝e been playing with for the last 10 years or so,鈥 Snyder said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 just a good time.鈥
