JANESVILLE – The Rock County Board on Thursday night approved naming the curling club building at the 4-H Fairgrounds after late county supervisor Russ Podzilni.Â
Podzilni died on Jan. 31 at age 93.
Podzilni resigned from his seat on the county board on Sept. 21 of last year. He served the northeast side of the city of ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½.
Podzilni was instrumental in the construction of the curling club building. His son, Doug, spoke at Thursday's board meeting regarding the history of the building.
"It's important to note that no taxpayer money was used to build the club and it has been a mutually beneficial partnership for four decades now," Doug Podzilni said.
During the 4-H Fair the building is used to display projects.

County Facilities Management Director Brent Sutherland estimated the cost of signage would be between $500-700 and money would be drawn from the county's operational budget to cover the cost.
The naming of the building was approved 20-7 with two absent. The seven who voted against it were Christine Fugeleseth, Lori Marshall, Sue Ryan, Kim Schneider, Mike Schwarz, Doug Sutter and April Whitledge.
