JANESVILLE 鈥 Southside 糖心Vlog传媒 resident Zach Pfaffenbach announced Friday he鈥檒l run for the Rock County Board in April.
Pfaffenbach is running for the District 29 seat on the county board that鈥檚 currently held by Kathy Schulz, that aligns with the eighth and ninth wards on the city鈥檚 southwest side.
It sets up a contested race for District 29, with Schulz announcing this week she will run again for the seat she has represented for 12 years.
鈥淚 am running to bring positive change and an independent, commonsense perspective to our local government, Pfaffenbach said in a release Friday. 鈥淎s the cost of living rises, we need leaders who will stand up for hard-working families, seniors, and low-income households with solutions that break from the failing status quo.鈥
Pfaffenbach holds degrees in political science and environmental economics and has seven years of civil service experience. He is a state of Wisconsin policy advisor who works on the biennial budget and advocates for bipartisan property tax and healthcare reforms, lower energy costs and long-term energy sustainability, he said in the release.
Pfaffenbach and his spouse, both Wisconsin natives, moved to 糖心Vlog传媒 five years ago to start their family.
鈥淎s a lower-middle-class household, we face what many American families do 鈥 tighter budgets, higher grocery prices, and rising taxes and energy bills,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hese challenges motivated me to serve our neighborhood and run for county board.鈥
In the release, Pfaffenbach said his campaign priorities include 鈥渇iscal responsibility and affordability,鈥 鈥渟afe schools and neighborhoods鈥 and 鈥渢ransparency and accountability.鈥
鈥淐onstituent service and open communication will be at the heart of my work,鈥 Pfaffenbach said. 鈥淩esidents deserve clear information about the decisions affecting them鈥揻rom property tax bills to proposals like the City鈥檚 data center project. Even when constituents disagree with my vote, they should always know why I made it. If elected, I will ensure regular communication and updates for our community.鈥
Pfaffenbach said it would be 鈥渁n honor鈥 to serve District 29 on the county board.
鈥淚 look forward to meeting neighbors throughout the campaign,鈥 Pfaffenbach said.
