MILWAUKEE 鈥 Wisconsin congressman Bryan Steil of 糖心Vlog传媒 is a future national leader who should be supported by all Wisconsin Republicans, according to the state party chairman.
At a news briefing for Wisconsin delegates attending the GOP national convention Tuesday, Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Brian Schimming said Democrats have already spent $2 million to defeat Steil.
鈥淭hey are after him,鈥 Schimming said. 鈥淏ut it鈥檚 not just about a southeastern Wisconsin congressional district.
鈥淒emocrats are afraid of Republican leadership,鈥 Schimming said. 鈥淭hey do not want upcoming Republican leaders to get elected or reelected.鈥
Steil has demonstrated in his short time in office a leadership reputation, Schimming said.
鈥淚 want to emphasize this point,鈥 Schimming said. 鈥淭hey want to stop upcoming Republican leaders.鈥
鈥淏ryan has gained the support of his House colleagues,鈥 Schimming said. 鈥淗e chairs an important (House Administration) committee They are after this guy, not just because of district politics, but because they cannot afford to let him win, and we cannot afford to let him lose.鈥
Schimming is a leader among GOP officials supporting and encouraging early voting.
鈥淚 am tired of being 100,000 votes behind and having to make that up in 13 hours on election day,鈥 he said. 鈥淎bout 40 to 50 percent of the vote total is early voting. We have to take advantage of that and make sure it鈥檚 done fairly and legally.鈥
There is a difference between Democratic and Republican voter integrity, Schimming said.
鈥淚f it were up to Democrats, there would be no voter ID,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey want a wild west style of voting.鈥
Schimming said Republicans in Wisconsin lead the nation in voter integrity.
鈥淲e have the best voter integrity system in the nation,鈥 he said. 鈥淲e have three fulltime staff working on this, and it鈥檚 a high priority for us.鈥
Wisconsin delegates at this week鈥檚 national convention have expressed a 鈥渃an鈥檛 lose鈥 attitude regarding former president Donald Trump鈥檚 election bid. Schimming said there鈥檚 no such thing as a guarantee to win.
鈥淲e have to work until the last minute,鈥 Schimming said. 鈥淲e have to keep working because there are no givens 鈥 no givens.鈥
