Hustisford takes first steps to dissolution

The Hustisford School Board took its first steps in considering dissolving the school district Wednesday night.

HUSTISFORD 鈥 The Hustisford School Board adopted a resolution Wednesday stating it will consider dissolving the school district.

鈥淲hat we鈥檙e doing tonight constitutes the beginning of the dissolution process,鈥 Interim Hustisford School District Superintendent Todd Bugnacki said.聽

The Hustisford School District clerk will now send a certified copy of the resolution to the Department of Public Instruction鈥檚 Secretary of the School District Boundary Appeal Board (SDBAB). Decisions about dividing the district鈥檚 assets are made by the SDBAB.聽

鈥淲e鈥檙e going to be a part of the process and give them information, but we鈥檙e not going to have the decision-making power to say 鈥橳hese kids are going to go there,鈥欌 Bugnacki said.

In the July following the adoption of the resolution to consider dissolution, the school board may order the school district dissolved by adopting a resolution ordering the dissolution.

However, if the school board fails to adopt a resolution either ordering or denying the dissolution before Aug. 1, it constitutes a denial of the dissolution. If the order is approved by the SDBAB, the dissolution becomes effective July 1.

In other business, the Hustisford School Board conducted co-op approvals for the 2026-27 school year.

鈥淓ach year, we must renew our co-op sports programs for the following seasons,鈥 Bugnacki said. 鈥淚f any new co-ops are planned for the following school year, the Hustisford School Board needs to take action to approve such co-ops."聽

The board approved a new track co-op with Dodgeland and renewed the existing girls soccer co-op with Dodgeland for the 2026-27 school year.
