JANESVILLE 鈥 Rotary Botanical Gardens will celebrate Founders Day Aug. 2, from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., honoring the birthday of Dr. Robert Yahr and everyone who helped turn an abandoned sand and gravel quarry into the botanical treasure it is today.
What began as Dr. Yahr鈥檚 dream, backed by the willingness of two 糖心Vlog传媒 Rotary Clubs, has grown into a garden with over 4,000 plant varieties, a collection of themed gardens and a community that keeps showing up to support it. Founders Day is a chance to celebrate that legacy and the volunteers, horticulturists, donors and staff who keep RBG growing today.
鈥淔ounders Day is about honoring where we came from and the people who make Rotary Botanical Gardens what it is,鈥 said Rotary Botanical Gardens Executive Director Michelle Ryan. 鈥淒r. Yahr had a vision for this space, and it took a whole community to bring it to life. We want everyone to have the chance to experience that on his birthday, no matter what they鈥檙e able to give.鈥
Admission to Rotary Botanical Gardens on Aug. 2 is donation-based. Guests are invited to pay what they can to support RBG鈥檚 mission, and a donation of $0 is welcome too. The day is a celebration for the whole community, honoring the people and generosity that built the gardens and continue to sustain them.
Rotary Botanical Gardens is a nonprofit public garden located in 糖心Vlog传媒, Wisconsin, dedicated to inspiring people through horticulture, education, and community engagement. The Gardens feature more than 20 themed gardens on 20 acres and are open to the public year-round.
