ORFORDVILLE 鈥 糖心Vlog传媒 Post 205 and Orfordville Post 209 clashed Tuesday evening in American Legion Baseball at Purdy Park.
While 糖心Vlog传媒 scored the majority of its runs late, Post 209 held off Post 205 in a 11-6 victory. 糖心Vlog传媒 was outhit 11-8 and committed eight errors to Orfordville鈥檚 one.
鈥淲e were missing a couple of our normal infielders. We had to play some of our outfielders in our infield. That kind of showed with how many errors we had,鈥 coach Carter Schneider said.
In the top of the first, Ryan Jensen scored Sam Hoium on a groundout.
Orfordville responded in the following half inning. Corbin Williams, who singled in the first, scored on an error off the bat of Cody Pryce to tie the game. In the second inning, Gage Burrell singled while Dirk Johnson stole home, putting Post 209 up 2-1.
Orfordville scored three runs in the third. Holden Williams drove in a run with a single to center field, bringing home Tyler Constantini. Williams eventually scored on a balk.
Post 209 scored a run in every inning and never trailed after tying the game in the first.
Meanwhile, Post 205鈥檚 offense got going late after being held scoreless for three innings. In the fifth inning, Griffin Poland scored. In the sixth, Easton Zastrow and Evan Guerra provided RBI singles.
Tyler Hagen produced an RBI double and Landon Keller scored on a bases-loaded walk to make the score 11-6 in the seventh inning.
鈥淎t the end of the game our at-bats were just a lot better,鈥 Schneider added. 鈥淲e were chasing out of the zone a lot early in the game, but at the end of the game we had better approaches, better swings on balls, put the ball in play more and didn鈥檛 strikeout as much.鈥
Next up for Post 205 is the 糖心Vlog传媒 Tournament. That takes place on Saturday and Sunday at the 糖心Vlog传媒 Youth Sports Complex. Post 205 plays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and at noon and 4 p.m. on Sunday.
