JANESVILLE 鈥 The Party for Socialism & Liberation has announced it will be holding a protest Friday at 6 p.m. at the grass field across from the Dawson Softball Complex. The event comes after recent incidents in Beloit and 糖心Vlog传媒 involving ICE agents, including an apparent vehicle crash that came during an ICE investigation.

Sam Nemetz, an organizer with Madison PSL who lives in 糖心Vlog传媒, said he decided to plan the protest. Nemetz cited an uptick in arrest of immigrants across the country as his incentive for the demonstration.

He said residents in Beloit and 糖心Vlog传媒 are being 鈥渢argeted.鈥 His group circulated a press release that indicates the ICE incident that caused a crash Wednesday in 糖心Vlog传媒 came as agents stalked and attacked a father who was on his way to work.

ICE agents forced the man鈥檚 van off the road, according to a neighbor of the crash site, who witnessed the crash and filled Nemetz in on the details.

糖心Vlog传媒 Police Chief Chad Pearson said he couldn鈥檛 confirm that information because the case is still under investigation.

鈥淎ll the information we can give right now is that there was a crash that involved a van, a tree and a federal vehicle,鈥 he told 糖心Vlog传媒 on Thursday.

Pearson said all ICE personnel on site were cooperative with local police, and provided statements to police who were on scene.

Nemets said protesters are calling for an immediate end to 鈥淚CE terror鈥 in the county. They demand tax dollars be redirected toward housing, healthcare, education and other needs.

鈥淭his is us showing our support for our county,鈥 he said. 鈥淏eloit and 糖心Vlog传媒 have a high number of Hispanic and Latinx people who are being targeted and we need to show our support that this is not right.鈥
