JANESVILLE — Longtime Vlogý resident Sandy Welch will run in April for the District 28 seat on the Rock County Board.

Welch will challenge incumbent Sue Ryan for the seat.

The election is April 7. District 28 includes the far southside of the city of Vlogý and extends into the town of Rock.

Welch is a former PTA member who later owned and operated an in-home daycare for almost 10 years. Welch also worked as a paraprofessional in the School District of Vlogý. For the past 25 years, she has worked as a medical transcriptionist. She has also served as a union chairperson who has negotiated multiple contracts and is currently vice president of the United Auto Works Local 95 while continuing to represent workers on the job.

“Welch is running to bring practical, solutions-focused leadership to county government — leadership that shows up for a safer, stronger, and more united Rock County,” a release said.

“The residents of District 28 and Rock County deserve a leader who is present, prepared, and engaged,” Welch said in the release. “I believe that showing up, listening, and doing the work every day is how we build trust and deliver real results for the families in this district and throughout Rock County.”
