TURTLE 鈥 The town of Turtle board will discuss and could take action on a 鈥渃ost reimbursement agreement鈥 with Panattoni Development, Inc over a potential data center project on Wednesday night.
Panattoni, a company based in Irvine, California; has taken over for Meta and Cambrin in the Towns of Beloit and Turtle. Panattoni says on its website it brings more than 40 years of experience delivering large-scale industrial and technology projects.
It says the company鈥檚 approach 鈥渆mphasizes collaboration, transparency, and long-term community engagement.鈥
The proposed town of Beloit data center would be a 430-acre, 700,000-square-foot, hyperscale data center campus. It would be situated on an aging rock quarry off South Prairie Avenue.
Panattoni does not say on a frequently asked questions page on its website whether the town of Turtle portion of the project would increase the scope or size of the data center proposed.
The company only says that 鈥渁 potential new, large-scale data center campus is being considered in (the Towns of) Beloit and Turtle to support the growing demand for digital infrastructure.鈥
There is no official public hearing for the Town of Turtle鈥檚 data center discussion on Wednesday, but the town is giving the public a chance to speak during citizen comment, with each person getting up to 90 seconds to sound off.
In accordance with state open meetings law, town board members will not be not allowed to respond to public comment or address speakers individually or as a group. The town asks that all comments remain 鈥渞espectful and directed to the board as a whole,鈥 meaning people should not single out individual board members.
The No Beloit Data Center Facebook group has posted notice of the meeting to alert its social media followers. The group鈥檚 Facebook event page as of Monday afternoon showed at least 50 people planned to attend.
The meeting is slated for Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the town hall at 6916 S. County Road J.
